Saturn in Capricorn Millennials

It has been difficult for me to find words to describe the complexity of this sub-generation. There is a lot there, and it’s important to me to give them due justice. The combination of Saturn with Uranus and Neptune in the sign of Capricorn during the period of time this group incarnated makes for an eclectic mix of archetypes.

Saturn first entered Capricorn from mid-February 1988 to mid-June 1988 and again in mid November 1988, remaining there until early February 1991, making exact multiple conjunctions with Uranus and Neptune during this time period. A few of these folks born between late November 1990 and early February 1991 also have the North Node in Capricorn, turning up the volume on these placements, and especially on Saturn.

What happens when you put Saturn, a planet representing limits, structure, & containment, in its own sign but add in the truly out-of-this-world archetypes of Uranus and Neptune? Uranus, who resembles the Prometheus archetype of that which sparks revolution, liberation, and sudden change, & Neptune who acts to dissolve, spiritualize, and mysticize that which it comes into contact with….with Saturn the rule-maker and boundary-keeper?

What this looks and feels like in my mind's eye is standing in the middle of a parking lot during an earthquake & a torrential downpour & a hail storm, all at once... Structures all around you that once appeared to be solid crumble with ease, and reality as you know it is strikingly revealed as malleable and easily manipulated. But there is hope within you as you look around & see the potential in the magically infused rocks and debris surrounding you, and you realize this is what you will use to build a new world with.

It’s important to note here that the Uranus-Neptune conjunction lasted for a long time and is a signature of both Pluto in Scorpio (Millennials) and Pluto in Sagittarius (Gen Z) and is worth a deep exploration & examination (I’ll get to that one day), however what I will say is that this era is marked by widespread idealism, the belief and understanding that reality is a construct, & that a better, more equitable world is possible.

The Saturn in Capricorn sub-generation is instrumental in the conception of a New World as well as implementing the creation of that world. These folks have seemed to incarnate with a mission to bridge the gap between the real and unreal, to gather and contain the magic and transcendent qualities of Uranus and Neptune of collective liberation and universal compassion, and to find ways to make that vision our global reality. They are tasked with becoming the architects of a utopia. And trust me, they do not take this responsibility lightly.

Their Saturn returns are not over. They received a short break during springtime of this year when Saturn peaked into Aquarius for three months, but Saturn returned to its nocturnal domicile in Capricorn just a few nights ago on July 1st, 2020 and will remain there until December 16th when it makes its final departure and aligns with Jupiter in Aquarius a few days later.

I’ve watched my friends and clients move through their Saturn returns with a lot of grief, confusion, and with an enormous sense of responsibility. They have watched the world burn, they have bore witness to the immense suffering of not only humans across the globe, but of the Earth itself with the exploitation of its natural resources and the resulting changes in climate. They have witnessed the way greed and disregard for life at the hands of corrupt leaders have led to senseless death, as we all have. But, like I mentioned before, this sub-generation has incarnated with the recognition that in order for the world to heal, change has to happen on a structural level, and they know their time is coming to help enact that change. The innate understanding of personal and social responsibility is a key feature of this generation; the responsibility to both liberate and caretake the most marginalized of our global community through the implementation of structures that provide the basic fundamentals of what humans need to be inclusive members of society.

The Saturn in Capricorn generation aims to build the framework for the New World. If these are our architects, how can we support them as they finish up the final chapter of their Saturn returns? How can we hold space for their distress in carrying the weight of such an enormous responsibility? How can we affirm their desires for change while making sure they have the resources necessary to implement that change when their individual times arise? If you know a Saturn in Cap who is building something for this New World, support and affirm their efforts. I cannot stress this enough––WE NEED THEIR BRILLIANCE and we need them to feel nurtured through this time, especially.

Saturn in Capricorn friends, I wish you the best in this final leg of your Saturn return journey. You have been an inspiration to myself and I’m sure plenty of other younger millennials and Zoomers who have been watching you with awe thinking, how do they do it?

Building a New World isn’t your sole responsibility, and the rest of us are here to join you in your efforts. But you are the architects and we need your vision for the foundation.
